A’CRUINNEACHADH AIRSON 2048 -
Collecting for 2048

WINNER Best Small Museum Project MCL Award 2018

WINNER Community, Heritage and Tourism Award - Gaelic Awards 2018

To mark the Year of Young People in 2018, CEUT worked with primary school children from Sgoil Uibhist a Tuath and Taigh Chearsabhagh Museum to explore what the world might be like in thirty years' time - in 2048.

Picture

We began by asking the children to bring in an everyday object  which they thought people would struggle to identify in thirty years’ time.

We also asked them to think about the world in thirty years’ time.

They were very interested in the nature of education in 2048 and wondered whether teaching would all be done by distance learning; they were sad about that, with no one to play with.

They also thought about the state of the world in thirty years’ time, deciding that climate change would certainly make it a very different world.

Perhaps it would be not such a nice place to live.

We took this work and created an exhibition at Taigh Chearsabhagh.

Children and parents were at the grand opening and throughout the time the work was on display we had very encouraging comments in the visitors’ book.

We want to thank Hebridean Graphics for their help with the exhibition and our funder - Event Scotland. Funding was secured in partnership with An Lanntair in Stornoway.
